Super Bowl Legacy Fund

Super Bowl grants Leading up to the 2018 Super Bowl in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee launched a year-long philanthropic effort that awarded 52 communities with grants to improve the health and wellness of young people in Minnesota.

The Seeds of Native Health campaign contributed $500,000 toward the fund specifically for grants to Minnesota tribes. The Seeds grants were awarded to the following causes:

  • Dream of Wild Health – $50,000 grant to implement a teaching kitchen
  • Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa – $85,000 to pave a mile-long trail, improve a nearby school and community garden, and renovate and stock an outdoor skating rink
  • Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe – $100,000 grant toward purchasing and stocking a mobile teaching kitchen
  • Upper Sioux Community – $100,000 grant toward the tribe’s healthy food initiative, Zani Woyute, which focuses on increasing access to fresh food and engaging youth in the process
